A feature film by Dr. Seuss! Piano lessons with Dr. Terwilliker are the bane of young Bart Collins’ existence. One day, Bart falls into a musical dream world of imprisonment in the Terwilliker Institute, where his teacher turned madman dictator forces him and 499 other boys (hence, 5,000 fingers) to play a ginormous piano. With his mother under the hypnotic influence of Dr. T too, Bart must dodge the institute’s guards and figure out how to save them all.

As part of our inaugural Artist-in-Residence program, renowned choreographer Mark Morris handpicked this and three other musical films to be screened weekly throughout February, each showcasing a wide breadth of dance, music style and dramatic situation.
