Philadelphia Dance for PD® Symposium

As part of the Mark Morris’ Artist-in-Residence program, we are proud to present the Philadelphia Dance for PD® Symposium on Saturday, February 10. The symposium will feature a workshop, class, film screening and performance, all dedicated to exploring the Mark Morris Dance Group's acclaimed Dance for PD® program and the impact of dance, music and community on the lives of people with Parkinson’s disease.

SCHEDULE

10 AM-1 PM Professional Workshop with Lunch 
A workshop for professionals, including medical professionals, dance teaching artists, therapists and movement practitioners who work with people with Parkinson’s disease. This workshop costs $15, which covers the cost of a boxed lunch. Advance registration required.

1 PM-2:30 PM Dance for PD® Class 
A Dance for PD® class for those with Parkinson’s disease and their care partners, plus professionals who work with them. This class is free but advance registration required.

3 PM-4:30 Capturing Grace Film Screening and Discussion
A documentary film by David Iverson, Capturing Grace chronicles the work of and impact from Mark Morris Dance Group’s Dance for PD® program. The film will be immediately followed by a Q&A and discussion with David Iverson and Dance for PD® Program Director, David Leventhal. This event is open to the general public and free to attend, but advance registration required.

8 PM Mark Morris Dance Group and Music Ensemble Performance
Mark Morris' preeminent modern dance company makes a triumphant return to Philadelphia after 14 years with Dances to American Music, a program set to works by American composers. Featuring a wide range of music and dance styles, this troupe will impress with its stunning combination of exceptional dancers, beautifully sophisticated choreography and live music.
